My fiance is almost exactly as tall as I am, so I don’t want to wear heels. I’ve heard that flip flops are acceptable (not from my mom…she is appalled). I’ve also heard of brides wearing ballet slippers.

Ballet flats.
Even if you wear a really long dress that covers your shoes, the flip flops will make that awful noise.

Unless you plan on being married on a beach, go with the ballet slippers. The slippers are soooo much more comfortable and classier.

There are a lot of shoes that look like ballet slippers — and they’d be comfortable too (believe me, you’ll appreciate the comfort) — I’d go with them…..

Ballet flats, unless you are having a very informal, and almost beach like wedding. But just buy a nice pair of flats. It’s in the trend.

Flip Flops might seem cute, but not very practical. Imagine tripping and falling while walking down the asile.

NOT flip flops!
you’ll risk getting your dress stuck between your shoes and tripping!
ballet slippers or white flats are acceptable so long as the dress covers them
Is that your final answer?
on Apr 15th, 2010
@ 9:24 pm:
Please keep in mind that there are some shoes that are about 1/2 an inch or so but please dont wear sandles or flats, even if you are taller than he is. Its not acceptable and besides.. its your special day!

In my opinion i believe wearing ballet slippers or really cute flats would be appropriate for a wedding dress. I think wearing flip-flops would make it look kind of…informal(?) but that’s up to you. Congrats with your wedding! ^^

I think that you should wear those hard slippers. Not house slippers, the ones you can buy at the shoe store like payless. They are really pretty and you can get them in different styles. i hope you make the right choice to wear on your wonderful wedding! :^)

I actually wore heels during the ceremony bc of the height difference but when I got to the reception I changed them. Instead of ballet slippers or flipflops I actually just bought some white close toe flats. The ballet slippers were like $40 and I had already spent $60 on my wedding shoes so the flats were only $20 and I can still wear them everyday. But definitely ballet slippers instead of flip flops. Flip flops are kind of tacky but ballet slippers are growing more common everyday. Good luck!

I would go with whatever is most comfy for you. Ballet slippers will be a bit more dressy than flip flops, but other than when you hold the dress up to walk stairs/steps your shoes probably won’t show anyway.
Any appropriately colored flats will do.

I have seen men and women going into court in flip flops; wearing them with business clothes AT WORK. Wearing them with their graduation gowns at a formal ceremony! FLIP FLOPS ARE FOR AT HOME, ON THE BEACH, AND FOR LAZING AROUND! NOT FOR FORMAL WEAR, GRADUATIONS, WORK OR WEDDINGS!!!!!!!!!!!
I am so sick of seeing otherwise well-dressed men and women ruining their outfits with flip flops!
NO! Do NOT wear flip flops at your wedding! Wear flats or ballet slippers dyed to match your bridesmaid’s dresses.

I had the exact same problem with my husband–he’s about the same height as me…so I’ll tell you what helped me make my decision. The flip flops when I tried them on with my wedding dress had two problems, ONE the backs kept flipping up and getting my dress caught in them and TWO they made that click clack sound that flip flops often make. So, I selected the ballet flats for mine and they were absolutely wonderful!!! I absolutely loved them! They were so comfortable and my husband didn’t feel self conscious!
